The Night of Power – A Night of Forgiveness and Acceptance

Laylatul Qadr (Shab-e-Qadr) is one of the most sacred nights in the Islamic calendar, found in the last ten nights of Ramadan, most popularly observed on the 27th night. It is described in the Qur’an as: “Laylatul Qadr is better than a thousand months.” On this blessed night, sincere Supplication (Du’a) holds immense value, as it is a time when Allah’s mercy is abundant, and prayers are most likely to be accepted.

“Laylatul Qadr is better than a thousand months.”
(Surah Al-Qadr, 97:3)

On this night, the gates of mercy are opened, angels descend, and sincere duas (supplications) are accepted by Allah. Here are some powerful and recommended duas to make on this blessed night.

1. The Most Recommended Dua

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ told Aisha (RA) to recite this dua on Laylatul Qadr:

اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ تُحِبُّ العَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّي
“Allahumma innaka ‘afuwwun tuhibbul ‘afwa fa’fu ‘anni”
Translation: “O Allah, You are Most Forgiving, and You love to forgive, so forgive me.”

✨ This dua is short, easy to remember, and incredibly powerful.

2. Dua for Guidance and Strength

(Surah Aal-e-Imran 3:8)
Translation: “Our Lord! Let not our hearts deviate after You have guided us, and grant us mercy from You. Truly, You are the Bestower.”

🤲 This dua asks Allah to keep your heart firm and filled with mercy.

3. Dua for the Hereafter and Protection

رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ
(Surah Al-Baqarah 2:201)
Translation: “Our Lord! Give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the torment of the Fire.”

🙏 A complete and balanced dua — asking for goodness in both worlds.

4. Dua for Parents

رَّبِّ ٱرْحَمْهُمَا كَمَا رَبَّيَانِى صَغِيرًۭا
(Surah Al-Isra 17:24)
Translation: “My Lord! Have mercy upon them (my parents) as they brought me up when I was small.”

❤️ A special night to make heartfelt duas for your parents — both alive and deceased.

5. Personal Duas (From the Heart)

Laylatul Qadr is not just about memorized supplications. It is also a night to:

  • Cry in front of Allah
  • Speak to Him from your heart
  • Ask for forgiveness, guidance, ease, marriage, health, children, rizq (sustenance), peace, and Paradise.
  • Raise your hands and pour your heart out — Allah is near, listening, and loving.

Tips to Maximize Duas on Laylatul Qadr

  • Pray Tahajjud (night prayer) with sincerity.
  • Read Qur’an with meaning and reflect.
  • Stay in dhikr (remembrance).
  • Avoid distractions — be spiritually present.
  • Make a dua list in advance, including yourself, your family, Ummah, and oppressed people around the world.

Conclusion

Laylatul Qadr is not just a night of prayer — it is a golden opportunity. A night better than a thousand months means one sincere dua can change your life and destiny forever. Don’t miss this chance to speak directly to the One who can do everything — just ask.
